Here are Scorebook Live’s Top 25 Southern California high school football rankings for the week of Sept. 23. Our rankings encompass the Southern Section, LA City Section and San Diego Section. The rankings are compiled by Scorebook Live California reporters Connor Morrissette, Bodie DeSilva and Lance Smith.

1. Mater Dei (4-0) at St. John’s (Washington DC), 5:30 p.m. Friday

The Monarchs head to our nation’s capital following their bye week. Quarterback Bryce Young committed to Alabama over the weekend.

2. St. John Bosco (5-0) bye week

After picking up a 42-10 win in Hawaii against Mililani, the Braves are off this week before Trinity League play begins.

3. Mission Viejo (5-0) vs. Upland, 7 p.m. Friday

Chad Johnson’s team dominated Stockton St. Mary’s last Friday winning 63-7. The Diablos host Upland on Friday in one of the games of the week.

4. Helix (3-1) vs. Oaks Christian, 7 p.m. Friday

Helix is the top team in San Diego for now after recording wins over Cathedral Catholic and St. Augustine.



5. Cathedral Catholic (4-1) vs. Otay Ranch, 7 p.m. Friday

The Dons’ only slip up came against Helix two weeks ago. They’ll seek revenge come playoff time.

6. Corona Centennial (3-2) bye week

Corona Centennial is off this week. The Huskies annihilated Long Beach Poly 57-13 last week.

7. JSerra (4-1) bye week

The Lions begin Trinity League play in two weeks at home against Santa Margarita.

8. Grace Brethren (4-0) vs. Westlake, 7 p.m. Friday

Coming off of a bye, Grace hosts Westlake on Friday.

9. Narbonne (4-1) at Lawndale, 7 p.m. Friday

The Gauchos won a close one against rival Serra Friday to stay undefeated against California opponents.

10. St. Augustine (4-1) bye week

The Saints are on the bye following their defeat to Helix.

11. Norco (4-0) vs. Rancho Verde, 7 p.m. Friday

Norco looks to continue its perfect start to the season this week against Rancho Verde.


12. Serra Gardena (3-1) at Cathedral, 7 p.m. Friday

Serra drops just one spot after losing to Narbonne 28-21.

13. Corona del Mar (4-0) vs. San Clemente, 7 p.m. Thursday

CDM’s battle with San Clemente will be one of the top games of the week.

14. Servite (3-1) at Notre Dame Sherman Oaks, 7 p.m. Friday

In another game of the week contender, Servite travels to Notre Dame Friday.

15. Calabasas (3-2) vs. Valencia, 7 p.m. Friday

The Coyotes look to back on track this week following their 31-20 loss to Calabasas.

16. Sierra Canyon (4-0) vs. Bakersfield, 7 p.m. Friday

The Trailblazers will try to stay undefeated against an out-of-section opponent.

17. Notre Dame Sherman Oaks (4-0) vs. Servite, 7 p.m. Friday

The Knights face a stiff test against Servite Friday.

18. La Habra (3-2) bye week

La Habra gets a week off before league play begins.



19. Upland (3-1) at Mission Viejo, 7 p.m, Friday

Upland has had two weeks to prepare for Friday’s test.

20. Alemany (5-0) bye week

Casey Clausen’s team has the week off before beginning Mission League play.

21. San Clemente (5-0) vs. Corona del Mar, 7 p.m. Thursday

Two of Orange County’s top teams meet Thursday. One team will suffer its first defeat.

22. Bishop Amat (4-1) bye week

The Lancers return to our Top 25 after a big 45-20 win over Cathedral. They have two weeks to prepare for Alemany.

23. Orange Lutheran (3-2) bye week

Orange Lutheran goes into the bye on a high following a 42-17 road win over Vista Murrieta. The Lancers have two weeks to prepare for Mater Dei.

24. Murrieta Valley (4-0) vs. Buena Park, 7 p.m. Friday

Murrieta Valley beat Oaks Christian by one point last Friday to stay undefeated.

25. Tesoro (5-0) at Poway, 7 p.m. Friday

Tesoro has won all five of its games by multiple scores.
