Here are Scorebook Live’s Top 25 Southern California high school boys basketball rankings for the week of Dec. 23. Our rankings encompass the Southern Section, LA City Section and San Diego Section. The rankings are compiled by Scorebook Live California reporters Connor Morrissette, Bodie DeSilva and Lance Smith and will be released weekly during the regular season.

TOP 25 SOCAL BOYS BASKETBALL RANKINGS

Week of Dec. 23, 2019

1. Sierra Canyon (11-0)

The Trailblazers won two more games over out of state opponents last week. The Platinum Division of the Damien Tournament awaits.

2. Harvard-Westlake (12-0)

The Wolverines picked up an important 57-49 win over No. 10 Santa Clarita Christian on Friday.

3. Corona Centennial (9-2)

Corona Centennial won the Tarkanian Classic top division last week beating No. 4 Mater Dei and Bishop Gorman.

4. Mater Dei (8-2)

Mater Dei lost two games in the Tarkanian Classic to No. 3 Corona Centennial and Sheldon.

5. St. Bernard (11-0)

St. Bernard’s 57-55 win over no. 6 Heritage Christian from the Trevor Ariza Tip-Off Classic is the team’s best victory.

6. Heritage Christian (11-1)

Since losing to no. 5 St. Bernard in the Trevor Ariza Tip-Off Classic title game, Heritage Christian has won five games in a row.

7. Etiwanda (9-1)

The Eagles were off this past week.

8. St. Anthony (12-1)

Six days after St. Anthony beat no. 12 St. John Bosco in the the Bosco Winter Classic championship 66-57, the Saints dropped a non-league rematch between the two teams 58-52.

9. Windward (11-2)

Windward is 1-2 in their last three games, but have been dealing with injuries to key players.

10. Santa Clarita Christian (7-3)

Santa Clarita Christian has lost to the three top teams in California this season: No. 1 Sierra Canyon, No. 2 Sheldon (Sacramento) and No. 3 Harvard-Westlake. They beat No. 21 Rancho Christian 91-79 in November.

11. Renaissance Academy (12-4)

Renaissance has won seven games in a row. They beat Santa Monica 59-47 over the weekend in a rematch of a game Santa Monica won earlier in the season. Their best win is over No. 12 St. John Bosco.

12. St. John Bosco (10-2)

The Braves beat No. 8 St. Anthony 58-52 six days after losing to the Saints in the Bosco Winter Classic championship game.

13. Cathedral Catholic (7-3)

The Dons had a rough go of it in Northern California two weeks ago losing to Jesuit and Archbishop Mitty at the Father Barry Tournament in Sacramento.

14. St. Augustine (11-2)

The Saints went 3-1 in the Tarkanian Classic losing to No. 4 Mater Dei in the second round 66-59. They beat three out of state opponents.

15. Rancho Christian (10-2)

The Eagles have won seven straight since to losing No. 3 Centennial and No. 10 Santa Clarita Christian in November. They’ll play in the Classic at Damien this week, which will give them a great chance to move up in the rankings with a few wins.

16. Riverside Poly (10-1)

Riverside Poly’s one loss came against Liberty from Nevada in the Tarkanian Classic, a team Rancho Christian beat.

17. Fairfax (8-1)

Fairfax lost to Bishop Gorman 90-71 in the Tarkanian Classic last week.

18. Birmingham (8-1)

The Patriots have been off since beating Van Nuys 86-68 on December 9th.

19. JSerra (10-2)

JSerra was off last week. They’ll play in the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic this week.

20. Chaminade (11-2)

Chaminade’s two losses are to out of state opponents. They’ll compete in the Gold Division of the Classic at Damien this week.

21. Damien (9-2)

The Spartans lost in the championship of the Burbank Tournament 56-49 to No. 2 Harvard-Westlake three weeks ago. They’ve won two games since.

22. Bishop Montgomery (10-3)

The Knights fell in the Mission Prep Christmas Classic championship 48-47 to Seattle Prep on Saturday.

23. Capistrano Valley (11-1)

Capistrano Valley snuck by Poway 48-46 at the Carlsbad High School BSN Sports Showcase two weeks ago. They’ve won two blowouts since.

24. Rolling Hills Prep (10-0)

The Huskies have won every game by double figures this season.

25. Taft (8-2)

The Toreadors two losses came against No. 9 Windward and No. 11 Renaissance Academy. They’ve beaten Providence and Washington Prep.
